The second Progress Meeting of the ESFR-SMART project will take place in Cadarache (France), from 17-19 September 2019.
Nearly two year after the launch of the project, this event is a great opportunity for participants to present the progress of their work and exchange on their findings and methodologies, as well as to plan future actions.
This event will be hosted by the CEA, one of the project’s partners. It is organised by Christian Latge (CEA) and Konstantin Mikityuk (PSI), with the support of the Project Management Office (LGI).

Registration is open until 13th September.
MEETING VISITS
Two visits are planned on 19th September 2019 (afternoon/end around 4:30 pm):
- the Jules Horowitz reactor (JHR) Communication site
- the Plinius facility

VENUE & TRAVEL
Airports
The closest international airport is Marseille-Provence located in Marignane, approximately 1 hour by car from the Cadarache castle site. The airport has direct connections with many large international hubs: Paris, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam. Marseille-Provence Airport is 45 minutes by car or bus-shuttle from Aix-en-Provence (depends on traffic).
A second international airport is located in Nice, approximately 2 hours by car from the Cadarache castle site.
Railway stations
Major train stations are located in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille:
- Aix-en-Provence centre is located 40 minutes by car from Cadarache Castle.
- Aix-en-Provence/Arbois TGV is 55 minutes by car from Cadarache and 25 minutes by car or bus-shuttle from Aix-en-Provence (depends on traffic). This is the ‘train à grande vitesse’, or high-speed, train station.
- Marseille St. Charles is approximately 1 hour by car from Cadarache and 30 minutes by car or bus-shuttle from Aix-en-Provence (depends on traffic).
Smaller train stations are located in Manosque and Meyrargues. For further information please consult www.sncf.com.
